(More customer reviews)These hit the mid and highs well. They go loud. They even have some bass. The bass doesn't taper off to nothing when you crank either. It stays balanced throughout. I wanted to replace a pair of Infinity Sat1100's. The Sat's are nice speakers, but I wanted more lower rage and the SLX's stats indicated they provided that. I wanted as close to a full sized stand-up in the back as I could get. A floor speaker was not an option. These come with a nice mounting bracket. The speakers can be removed anytime you want by pressing a button on the top and bottom at the same time. L shaped banana connectors work well. Regular banana connections wont work because they stick out in the back. The speakers can be angled left and right by only 30 degrees. I would never use these as front main speakers. They sound a bit boxy. Heavy in the mids and lacking fullness. Proper corner placement helps a lot with this, but these are on-wall speakers if you don't buy stands. These speakers were meant for exactly what the manufacturer intended. As a nice looking alternative to a big speaker system to compliment a flat screen TV. This speaker does a great job as a center. Voices come out super clear and loud. I'm replacing a BIC America DV-62CLRS that I have in a setup. It has to be mounted on the wall though. It doesn't sit on top of a TV. I know why these are on sale now. Advertising these as being able to do the job of a main speaker is like saying a good bookshelf speaker can do the job. It can try. At $800 a pair originally, I would be really mad. At $120 each, not at all. I found a super center speaker by accident! If you want to spend $240 for mains, go with a real standup speaker unless you have no space. The R50's are much better or the Sony's on this site, just to name a couple. The SLX's were on sale for $99 delivered on 12-07. I paid $20 more each. They are just about sold out everywhere and you won't ever hear from these again. I gave a 3 star rating because as front mains they ony deserve 2 stars. Surrounds get a 4+ and as a center they get a 5. This is one good center speaker!
